FAQs for Performing Bands

1. Is registration required for members of performing bands? What about membership in ACB?

Registration is not required if you are only attending as a member of your respective ensembles during your performance. You also do not have to join ACB in order to perform.

2. If I don’t register for the convention or join ACB, what can I attend?

All concerts (except the Canadian Brass performance at the Lensic Performing Arts Center which is a ticketed event) and the vendors/exhibit room are free and open to the public.

All members of performing bands are welcome to attend any of the clinics, master classes, exhibits, or afterglows on the day of their performance. This means that you can attend these without registering for the convention or joining as an ACB Member. However, excursions, luncheons, and banquets must be signed up and paid for in advance. These events are only available through registration for the convention.

If you wish to attend clinics, excursions, banquets, meetings, or afterglows during the week on days other than your performance day, you must register for the convention.

3. I want to register for and attend the convention, but I am not interested in being a member of ACB. What are my options?

Membership in ACB is required in order to register for the convention.

4. I understand that each member band is entitled to four memberships in ACB. How do I use that to attend the convention?

Each ensemble membership may be used by four members of that ensemble to attend the convention without joining ACB as an individual. It is up to each ensemble how these four free memberships will be distributed. They do not cover convention registration – only ACB membership. Beyond these four, all individuals who wish to attend clinics and other non-public events are required to both join ACB and register for the convention.

5. I would like to participate in the Convention Band as well as my own ensemble. How do I sign up for that?

Participation in the Convention Band requires both registration for the convention and membership in ACB. Details for this are available at registration.
